If you're looking for a great location for getting away this summer, we might have just the place for you.
Where is it?
The Peat Cabin is located on beautiful Lake Joseph in the Muskokas.
The cabin is near Gordon Bay, on Lake Joseph. It is one of the three Muskoka Lakes, and the other two -- Lake Rosseau and Lake Muskoka -- can be reached by boat from Lake Joseph.
The deck ends at the water's edge.
The water off the dock is from 3 to 8 feet deep, and there is a shallower area, 1 to 2 feet deep, just fifty feet away.
There is also a small public beach about twenty-minutes' walk or paddle away, on Portage Lake.
Superb setting . . .
As you can see at left, the rental unit consists of two buildings side by side. The one on the left is the sleeping cabin and it has a large bedroom with two pair of bunks, and a small bedroom with a double bed. In addition, this building houses the three-piece bathroom. The log cabin on the right contains the kitchen, living-room area and dining area, as well as wood- burning stove. We're situated at the water's edge, and the view and the swimming are grand.
Rustic but convenient . . .
The log cabin includes all the rustic charm one might expect, but the kitchen includes many modern conveniences.
Besides the fridge and stove, the kitchen is equipped with pots, pans, dishes and cutlery, as well as toaster, coffee maker, kettle and microwave.
We encourage you to recycle your cans, bottles, plastic bags, and paper, and a recycling centre is provided. We also ask that you compost kitchen scraps (excluding meat scraps) in the bin provided.
What do you need to bring with you?
You will need to bring towels, bedding, toilet paper, and food. We also recommend that you bring your own drinking water. Although the lake water is safe to drink, if your system isn't used to it, you might experience some upset.
What's included?
We also provide a canoe and gas BBQ for your use.
Pets are allowed provided you keep them near you and clean up after them.
Smoking is allowed, but we ask that you restrict smoking to the deck or dock and always dispose of ashes and butts responsibly.
Due to fire risks, we do not allow open campfires on the property, however an enclosed fire pit is provided for your use.
